Voice Artist
I'm a UK-based voice artist specialising in commercials, character voice-over, audiobook narration and radio drama. My voice has been described as melodious, husky, rich and contemporary, with a natural warmth across narration and character work. I work across UK, US, Caribbean, and South African accents, and speak some French and Spanish. I'm represented for voice work by Samantha Dodd at Carey Dodd Associates. As an audio producer I also bring sound designs to theatre, audio and film productions. I am a BAFTA Connect Member.

AUDIO PRODUCTIONS
Glimmers
An exciting audio installation, a fictional storytelling iphone app that is part radio play, part adventure game. Using the GPS capabilities of your mobile phone to create the story path, audiences follow a route around the streets of Brighton and are able to hear new parts of the story; different routes creating varying narratives.
Launched at The Brighton Digital Festival 2013.
Produced by Rolemop
Written by Alex Buckley
Director & Sound Designer - Kerri McLean
Have you ever left a phone message that was never received? Did you think it was lost? What if it’s not? What if the message appeared across time in someone else’s phone? The new Glimmers app connects you to the future.
Snakes and Ladders
Snakes and Ladders is a bold and powerful darkly comic drama about race, identity, and the testing of family loyalties, partly inspired by real life stories and memories collected from black hairdressers in the South East of England.
South East Tour, 2014. Pictured performance The Arcola Theatre
Produced by Rolemop & Plenty Productions
Written by Sarah Naomi Lee
Director & Sound Designer - Kerri McLean
By harnessing an original audio archive of black and mixed race communities talking about their relationship with their hair, I integrated recordings into the sound design for the theatre production tour. Below is a short audio sample from the show where Sista (Janet Kumah pictured above), having just been told a huge family secret, drunkenly wanders off into her own mind with inner voices chattering, only to be abruptly bought back into the reality of the drunken gathering taking place in her hairdressers after hours with loud music playing.
She Called Me Mother
A one-woman play written by Michelle Inniss and directed by Cara Nolan, starring BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Cathy Tyson as Evangeline Gardner, a 70-year-old homeless Afro-Caribbean woman living in London and waiting for her estranged daughter.
Premiered autumn 2015 at Stratford Circus as part of a national tour with Black Theatre Live.
Produced by Pitch Lake Productions (co-founded by Cathy Tyson and Michelle Inniss)
Dramaturg: Trish Cooke
Sound Design: Kerri McLean
“I’ve collaborated with Kerri on sound design for theatrical productions, where she very effectively weaves electronic sound with instrumental acoustic improvisation.”
“Kerri is a natural creative collaborator and I was particularly impressed with the way she took raw audio archival source material and help shape the final script...”
