— Donna Close – Artistic Director, White Nights Arts Festival

Kerri McLean is a multi-hyphenate creative working across film, television, theatre and audio as a director, actor, writer and voice artist. Her career spans high-end screen drama, award-winning theatre and immersive performance, and a growing body of original writing — with her current focus firmly set on high-end screen drama and film, both behind and in front of the camera.

DIRECTOR

Kerri set up and led Rolemop Arts as Artistic Director for ten years, developing and directing new writing across theatre, immersive and audio-visual work — including Kemble's Riot, winner of The New York International Fringe Festival's Overall Excellence Award, 2013, and praised by The New York Times as capturing "a magical age when hoi polloi thought theatre was worth fighting for." She now directs continuing TV drama for EastEnders (BBC Studios) and Hollyoaks (Channel 4), and directed Formula 1's title sequence and promo films for worldwide broadcast over four years, featuring drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. Her immersive production Lockdown Town received two West End Offie nominations and an EPA Award, with Everything Theatre praising her "razor-sharp direction" and "impeccable timing." Kerri is a BAFTA Connect Member and was selected for the BBC Studios and EastEnders Director Multi-Camera Scheme in 2024, and is working towards high-end screen drama and film — currently in development on her first feature, her TV series Edit, and short films Selection and Ouroboros.

ACTOR

Kerri has performed in a wide range of high-end drama and film, including Bodkin (Netflix), Poldark V (BBC/Masterpiece PBS), The Rig 2 (Amazon) Line of Duty, The Ritual (Netflix). Her recent work sits across leading and character roles, with a playing age of 35–55 and range across UK, US, Caribbean and South African accents. She is represented by Narrow Road Talent Agency.

WRITER

Kerri wrote and staged her first play, Memories of Mermaids, in 2014 as artist-in-residence at London's Bernie Grant Arts Centre. Her following play, Reality Check, won Faith Drama's Writer/Director Festival Award and Audience Choice Award in 2016, leading to a paid commission for Art Terrorist under then-Artistic Director Gbemisola Ikumelo. She is currently developing television drama Edit, feature film The Split, and short films Selection, Ouroboros and Hail Mary — dark, research-driven stories centring underrepresented voices.

VOICE ARTIST

A trained audio producer, Kerri works across commercial and character voice-over, audiobook narration and radio drama, represented by Samantha Dodd at Carey Dodd Associates. Her voice credits include Baldur's Gate III, campaigns for Amazon and Canon, and audiobooks for Macmillan Audio and Hay House. Kerri had a lead role in radio drama Barred which won Silver for Best Director and Bronze for Best Digital Drama at the New York Festivals Radio Awards, 2022. She also brings sound design experience to theatre and short film, including She Called Me Mother, starring Cathy Tyson.

Across all four disciplines, Kerri is building towards the same destination: high-end screen drama and film, told through fresh, underrepresented voices.
